It's very rare, the new company will call your manager for feedback. If they ask for a manager contact details, give your friend name and number.

Who will call your manager.. tell him wipro is not a very small organization. Usually in bgv they will send email to hr/desugnated email of the organization

nobody calls your manager for feedback , every company give thier genric mail id which is connected to HR team

That's true he may be kidding you, just ignore him and move on with your choice, if your new organization is asking for email as suggested by others above, give your friend number and email id, nothing will happen don't worry.. I don't think your new organization asks for it, don't be afraid
