Trending @Wipro; Bench, Non-Billable Project, and Proctored Test – What Should I Do?
Hi all,
I joined Wipro on 20th June this year with 6.9 years of experience in Java. Till 2nd July, I was not tagged to any project, but then they tagged me to a non-billable internal project.
Recently, I gave one internal interview for another project but didn’t get any update. Now, my current manager told me there will be a proctored online coding test, since I’m from a Java background.
My questions are: 1. Is it normal to be on a non-billable project for now? 2. Are these proctored tests common, or should I worry about termination or layoff? 3. How long does it usually take to get into a proper billable project for someone with my experience? 4. Any suggestions on how I should handle this situation and increase my chances of getting allocated?
Any advice from people who’ve faced similar situations would help a lot.
Thanks in advance!

- Non billable is considered as bench only. Ask your manager who kept you non billable to process faster. If rejected, ask him if any other opportunities with him for you. Otherwise ask him to deallocate. Till he deallocate, no one can take you to project.
- You have 90 days to find the project irrespective of your band for the new joiners
- Please ask your recruiter which project you are hired for. Mostly wipro will hire for the project. After onboarding, you will have client round.

Wipro is the worst company ever I worked in last 15 years in different companies in India and abroad. I spend 3 years in Wipro, I resigned June 10th was LWD. HR team is puppets of managers, they are not following Wipro policy, HR made their own policy and Managers has their own policy. Try to some other company immediately.

100% true. You stuck bro. Look for other opportunities

Wipro has given you carrots when you joined and now they're going to make your halwa. Never join any company just looking at the package, do proper background check

Reach out to your manager and also your friends or colleagues who are in other projects to look for billable projects. Search in wipro internal job portal and external wipro jobs on LinkedIn/ Naukri etc. Try to reach out to the RMG manager, Delivery Heads, Project Managers etc
It's an alarming situation for you. You should start looking out. Wipro over for you
