Trending @Infosys; Will employees with 15 years of experience be promoted to JL6 in Infosys by default?

If you are getting skill tag incentive while in JL5 then I would recommend not to go to JL6. After going into JL6, you will not get skill tag incentive, variable component will increase. JL6 will get less performance bonus compared to JL5. Also multiple unnecessary work will get added which you will feel bored if you are a technical person. So your in-hand salary will be similar even if you get promoted. So instead of asking for promotion, you should ask your manager for higher increment or salary correction.

Below JL6 happens by default?

Promotions are combination of multiple factors for any job level
- you Satisfy overall experience and role maturity
- How many slots get opened .
- What is your competition. Folks with similar performance as you but with more experience and role maturity .
- How much important / critical you are in eyes of your PM and client.
- How seriously does your DM takes your PM.
- How much visibility you have outside your project in your unit and in front of DM. Which in turns is proportional to how much work you do outside of your assigned project.
- How much business are you pulling in and is dependent on you.
Last but not least how good is your unit doing. A unit like CIsNGE which is growing leaps and bounds is giving very quick promotions compared to legacy ADM units
The higher you go 6,7,8 become more important as number slots decrease and number eligible people increase .

Takeup bridge programs-Like DSS, Power Programmer or Senior Technologist within Infy to get promoted to JL6.

Neither promotion or even progression happens by default someone has to intervene manually
