I recently got progression to SSE after two years FROM SE ,even my total IT experience is 4yrs (just had gap in between which during hiring they didn't consider and gave wrong position).

Once you complete 2 yrs in SSE role start poking your manager for promotion to TA. Also try to maintain good ratings,dq score, appreciations etc.
