What happens when a project comes to an end, and how does redeployment typically work?

I would like to understand the standard process followed when a project is completed or not renewed. Specifically, how are associates supported during redeployment, what factors influence redeployment opportunities (skills, certifications, tenure, demand, etc.), and how likely is redeployment within the organization?

Any insights or experiences from colleagues or HR would be helpful.
