Trending @Infosys; Manager asking to relocate
I'm working from the nearest DC but my new manager is asking me to relocate to My base location while onboarding to the project I have cleared him that I'm working from the nearest DC At that time he had no issues and now he is asking me to relocate to base DC or take release from the project by mentioning that he had selected me because of my base location and client wants to team to be work from same location while the leads and manager working from different locations. For bench people is it require to work from base DC?

As per manager you need to follow otherwise it may be hectic. Or request your manager politely to get approval by nearest Dc location.

Requested him but he is not allowing he gave me two options to either relocate or take release from the project.

You do one thing you have 10 days WFH. First week u work in manager location second week u work in your location again third week manager location 4th week your location month will complete. Do this everymonth iam doing like this way.

Take a release and have a chill life

If you take a release , try to be in good books with the manager and explain him your reasons , otherwise some managers flag this to the HR and then the HR can take actions against you as per project refusal policy

See here the difference is manager is giving the release he is not taking by own even and HR don't interfere here they will say it up to manager and all bla bla same scenario happen with my colleague so have much more experience in this situation

You can’t do much. Ideally you should got yourself tranferred to your nearest location. Maybe at that point he thought it will work but now Clent mandate has override him.

There's no client mandate here, it's just tactics of managers to bring the team to one place to work for their own good to show their boss that their team is doing wfo properly. Moreover if there's a client mandate it falls for everybody, no exceptions for lead or managers unless ofc they are working from client location itself then it's different story. Also the fixed 3days in a week is also their way of managing that teams are together and shifts managed well. Currently there's no mandate of which days you can work from office, but only 10days of wfh is there so if you have 22working days you would need to work 12days from office. My project is critical is why our manager allowed to work from any DC and even ready to write this on email. But not willing to provide exceptional wfh unless there's really genuine need which theyll have to reason with their boss or HR. Anyways these people are cruel , not following compliance and staying against manager when they don't really have a critical dependency on you , could lead to HR , you may either work from the base DC or look for another project in your nearest DC.

You don't have an option here. Manager expects their team to be at office to may be monitor work or for productivity or client mandate purposes. Could be anything. Try to work in hybrid, else get released and choose another project that has the flexibility.

If you want work on project then move to your base location otherwise ask for release

Which client it is ?
