Trending @Infosys; Language issue in team

We are team with 11 people, 3 are from Bangalore location and 8 are from Chennai, in internal discussion call our Chennai team talks in Tamil, and we don’t understand it and we missing many updates,

When we 3 talks, we talk in English, we requested them to talk in English many times, again they continued to talk in Tamil,

Here my question is: shall v learn Tamil? Or shall v take this to HR and Manager?

What you guys suggest?

Take up with manager first then HR if required.

“Folks, sorry to interrupt. But I don’t understand Tamil and I didn’t catch any of the things that happened in the last 5 minutes…”

Try 5-10 times. Imagine you’re talking to a school kid.

“Folks, I’m not understanding anything.”

Try 5-10 times.

“Folks, english please?”

Try 5-10 times.

This is from some article on how to be a good parent. Parenting articles surprisingly work great in dealing with certain folk. 🤨

Managers are double sided be careful with them , just say as it's team issue , don't say it personally. He may say them like you are only one facing and it's may gives you problem

Record the conversation just to be on a safer side before talking with hr
