I am due to get promoted to JL6 this quarter, DM says he has pushed my nomination but still waiting for the slot information. What does that mean?

Jl6 slots are very few. They will take people from outside at jl6 at far less experience as HR has to match salary and they go by minimum jl6 experience. But insiders they make people wait. Every DM may not get more than 1-2 JL6 slots in a year. It’s odd that DM is saying he pushed nomination. He has full knowledge of slots he has and ranking of people under him. If he is not taking you for a ride most likely he is yet to get the slots from HR.
