Really want to know how promotion from senior consultant to lead consultant happen..? Is it based on years, job maturity, handling team, client contract and many more. It's been 4 years as senior consultant, my manager is still taking about it will another 2 years to give promotion. P.s. I always get 2 or 1 rating and at least 2 appreciations from client in a month.
JL6 promotion is not just based in client feedback. It also depends on your managerial ability. Yes some roles an individual contributor can be JL6 if his skill set is niche and the comp he commands cannot be met at lower levels. But the general norm for most ADM unit in infosys is below. The horizontals or specialized unit can be slightly different based on their revenue growth but more or less below is the requirement for jl6 promotion. To summarize how much of your managers work are you doing to get it
Are you 8+ years experience with at least 3+ years in JL5 or JL5aA. Are you bringing in new business, are you already managing a team of 20+ folks, are you actively participating in RFPs, are you managing Client relationships, are managing infosys side operations for one or more projects. All these are indications that your manager is grooming you to be a JL6. Last two rating of commendable and above. There folks from 8 years to 16?years waiting for their JL6 promotion for more than 3 years. So more of the above things you are doing the greater your chance of promotion to JL6
