Trending @Infosys; IJP really works?

How many of you were able to get promoted to a different role/project using IJP? Has anyone been able to do it recently?

I am currently passing 2.5+ years in my current project and wanted to change the domain I work for. Based on previous talks with my manager regarding this, he kind of demotivates such actions from my side by saying things like staying in the current project is better compared to changing to a new project as you already accumulated so much knowledge in the current project in the past two years and it will be hard when you change project, and similar toned things. With these kinds of managers who keep people stuck in one project, does the IJP really work?

Can we apply for the IJP for the same role like TL > TL? Or we can only apply to promoted roles like TA > TL? My intention is to change my current domain.
