Trending @Infosys; I joined infy as a associate business analyst its been 1year, i want to how can we promoted here after 1year or there is involvement of manager to promote us. NOT SURE my mate got promoted he joined with me as well but i didn't yet?

Promotions are slot-wise. Every quarter, some slots open and your manager will have the option to nominate for promotion.

The slots are very tricky and designed in a way where a minority portion of the team can only get promoted. So, despite having the same rating and DoJ, your manager has to make a conscious call based on soft parameters like eagerness to work, adaptability, attitude, long term stability, etc - all of which are not (or rather, need not) be captured while giving you a rating.

A rating is solely designed based on what you promised to do (goals) v/s what you did (achievement). A good rating is a necessary condition for promotion, but not a sufficient one.

Same here. Same joining date,same rating. I asked hr on it, and he said it is up to the manager.
