In my offer letter it is mentioned that either I have to serve 3 months notice period or give up 3 months salary (probably basic). Usually it is also flexible, for example, if you serve 1 month notice period then you'll have to give up 2 months salary, tell the same to the new employer, if they have urgent requirement, they'll pay your loss.

Check your offer letter first
