I think the nomination opened around February-March this year and the same timeline is followed every year.

So you need to speak to your management and get yourself nominated.

It definitely increases your chance of getting onsite if there is one onsite right away. Also you can have this visa transferred from one company to another which is also very helpful.

You don’t apply you get nominated . And unlike the period from 2000-2007 where people were nominated for H1b within one year of joining. Now for freshers it will atleast take 4-5 years. For laterals you should have spent 2 years in infy with more than 5year exp. Some people who have less exp put out down paper at the right time maybe nominated early to retain them. Nominations happen around December end Jan mid. So that is time you need to remind your managers. If nomination goes through you will get email from global mobility team . After this is your luck as us govt has a lottery for H1b only one in four applications get picked. If you get through lottery all your Fiume ya would be submitted and if us govt approves you application you can technically travel in November . H1b is prIzed commodity as it’s very difficult to get one and so yes it improves your chances of going on-site by 💯. Ideally they won’t be doing H1b for you if they don’t want to send you on-site. As they have spend a lot of money. But some roles/skill sets are more in need at offahore. So H1b just becomes a carrot to work 3-4 more years without quitting thinking he will go onsite one day
