Trending @Infosys; Fresher on PIP
Hi all,I am a fresher, Joined Infosys 2 years back,I was on bench since then and wasn't assigned any project by my TPD.I approached many project managers and team leads for projects, but every effort gone in vain. Some said that they want experienced people and some said that they won't take directly, profile has to be shared by TPD only. But TPD never made an attempt to map us to any project.Recently I was kept in PIP, and had to go to Mysore,We were given 2 certification exams and 1 capstone project evaluation.I did my best and cleared both the certifications in the first attempt itself. In the capstone evaluation the interviewer hasn't asked any questions related to capstone. He only asked basic DBMS questions.I answered well in capstone too.But they've not produced any marks for capstone. They directly sent mail as PIP not cleared. When we have asked, they said that capstone is the reason. What an irony it is.My question is how can someone send me to performance improvement plan when I was not given a chance to perform. If they had assigned a project and if I haven't performed well there they could've sent me to PIP.Now with no work experience,How can I go out and search for other jobs. Was it our sin to join one of the top MNCs without projects as a fresher.

Hi All, after serving 5 year's in this organisation i will keep my opinions on this. This is not good organization from any point of view such as career growth, salary hikes etc. Sometimes they will not have project with them then also they will blam employee. TPD are worst person here. They will tag you anywhere irrespective of your future aspiration and technology stack. They will create situation for you that only option left with you is put your resignation either by putting in PIP or giving Needs Improvement Rating so that your salary will be reduced and you will start feeling low and depressed. They will make permanent wfo project or put you in night shift. Best way to handle them is keep you updated on lastest technology in market and catch good opportunity in market at proper time. Yearly icount performance rating is also big tragedy and favourism is more here for promotion and good rating.

Agree with you on TPD, each month they map me into a project and the manager tells that role mismatches or doesn't meet current project needs. This cycle continues and I'm worried about what will happen in the future. Any way by which we can make us mapped to the project where our experience and skills match the requirements?

++ I too have the same question on why to initiate pip without giving a chance to show their ability. I'm a lateral joiner and it has been 3 months without a project.

U also put into PIP

The honest truth is cost cutting.. a person on bench is a liability to the company.. that person is withdrawing salary without giving anything in return. So the moment your name is in that list sadly its almost game over for the employee.

I had faced the same in my initial days after being released to production. I was assigned to the DCG unit where everyone rejected me due to lack of experience. So I have asked my manager to move me to another unit, he agreed and relieved me to bench after that I have reached out to the unit TPD people asking to change my unit inside the unit itself. They had mapped me to the ADM unit where I got the project opportunity the moment I was mapped to this unit. You can try this approach which might work for you too.

We had 3 freshers in our project and I was in charge of grooming them but suddenly while asking for status they told they cannot spend time on learning which was advised by me because they were sent for pip.
I immediately advised them to talk to the manager and the manager sent an email to HR stating they will be onboarded into the project very soon when the formal requirements come from the customer.
But to everyone surprise HR forcefully sent them for pip and the manager could not do anything.

My only suggestion is to study for a new job now(maybe take some classes as an investment), don't waste time thinking about what happened and move on You'll be doing well in a few months, all the best.

I assume you are from DNA unit...we also had pip at Mysore recently but for our case there was no project interview......they are anyways looking to fire all...
