I have joined infosys this year Feb month, currently I'm maintaining office attendance regularly 10 to 12days a month. Due to some personal issues, I might have to work from home for 2 to 3 months from September . Do I need to take permission from manager or HR for this ? If without approval we proceed to take work from home then what will happen?

All Depends on your manager. Special Tip- In case you have good dependency in your project, don't request it, just tell them that you will be working from home that's it. Our unit mandated the wfo thing like more than a year ago with about 10-11 wfh per month. I haven't been to office even a single day. Got 5-6 warning mails from HR keeping the manager in CC. But neither me nor my manager gives a shit in my case. Btw I also know people working under same manager and getting their a*s kicked off for applying even one exception. So the moral of the story is- If you have good hold and dependency in your project, they will have to agree to your terms and conditions. If not, get ready to face their dramas in exceptional approval.
Bonus tip- Infosys as a whole company still hasn't enforced wfo to all units.So don't worry, no actions would be taken against you

Just inform your manager as he/she will be approving ur WFH and your manager will ask the reason to justify why you want to wfh no need to pull HR in this it will be a trouble for you

It's better to inform than regarding this.
