Trending @Infosys; Career break advice

Hi,

Sorry to intrude your timeline. If someone has been through or seen others having faced similar situation, please share your experience/suggestions.

Currently I'm feeling burnt out with my role. Over the last 3.5 years I've been working in support project with on-call duty monthly once or twice, getting only 2 weekends off in a month. The on-call duty also makes it necessary to be available 24*7, you are never sure when you would receive a call-out. This has effected my physical health( pushed to being overweight from 70s to 100 kgs in last 3 years) and also taking a toil on my mental health. With current market situation, I'm not getting any calls for interviews as well to get out of this loop. Thinking to take a career break of 3 months to improve on my physical and mental health.

I have some financial dependencies, which would not allow me to have a long break. Does recruiters not even consider to schedule interviews if there is a gap in one's career and eventually would there be a chance of being unemployed for long time, after taking break?

Or should I approach my HR for Sabattical leave , how difficult is to get it, will they consider the situation? Will they need a detailed Medical reports to approve this?

When you try to initiate separation in systems it gives you some options for career break and part time work you can explore those options. Take care

You should have a discussion with your manager. He can help you. They would not take this health issues lightly.

I would suggest to connect with your manager/Unit HR, Explain him/her your situation professionally that 24*7 is difficult which is effecting your mental and physical health. Kindly request them to do necessary changes or ask for alternate project work.

Conversation will be really helpful.

I'd suggest to get to a easy project, work on your body and then decide. You'll be able to take right decision
