That's not layoff , infy is definitely bad in terms of compensation or hikes but they provide freshers with the training for 3months and if a candidate fails to pass the training they are let go with month salary. As much hard it is to say, it's your brother's fault for not passing the training assessment test.

Usually there are 3 attempts for each of the FA's, and that's more than enough to clear... Whoever joined infy as a fresher, they need to clear all those FAs, otherwise this will happen... Its not LAYOFF, its related to training and it's common in most of the companies...
Do you think that number would be so high if there were 3 genuine attempts. Clearly the org has increases the standard of assessment because of slowdown in demand. They just don’t want too many folks to be added to bench list. But will send a wrong signal to potential joiners. But whole industry is doing it so they don’t have a choice .
