Trending @Infosys; Anxious about hikes because of marriage

I’m not the kind of guy to obsess about hikes because I know end of the day companies will screw you over. But now that I’m going to talk to potential families for marriage, I am realizing that my salary is not the most attractive part about me, not that looks are overcompensating for it either. At least want a hike that I finally get into double digits 🥲.

Am I overthinking? Anybody else in my shoes?

While considering financial part before marriage is good , but judging yourself only the basis of salary is not advisable. You are marrying not doing any financial transaction.

This comment is suitable for an ideal world... It is a very financial transaction more or less

It sounds good in ideal world however for an arrange marriage you'll find it difficult to find brides for guys earning less or better say the bride side expects mid or upper side of two digits. Very rare it is to find a bride who's not judging a guy based on his salary. And its understandable everybody wants a stable luxurious life for their future so I can't judge either side.

I joined Infosys around July 2022 with about 2 years of experience but didn’t receive any hike initially. By December 2024, with my family urging me to get married since I was 26, I decided to aim for a promotion first—otherwise, I would have switched jobs directly. I went through the IJP process, secured a promotion, and got an increment since it was a job level switch from 4 to 5. That gave me a confidence boost, and now, we're getting married this month—so it's completely normal to feel this way, and honestly, it's a good thing!

If you are really worried about you current CTC you shouldn’t be worried about the hikes at all as it will not even cover inflation!!! You should be looking out and fighting with your manager for atleast a 30% hike
