I got retained and whatever hike they gave as a form of retention bonus, the bonus letter released for one after. After completing one year I asked HR to renew the retention bonus letter or merge it with CTC, they are telling different stories, have to work with old CTC. Worst company

Renew is never an option without resignation. It should be merged with ctc.

Most service based companies do this. First thing we need to be more cautious is retention amount should be reflected in ctc. However I have seen few scenarios where it is done same as your case.
