Trending @HCL; How to tackle dumb RM
My RM keeps changing task priorities almost every day. Even if I spend time on a task, the next day it suddenly becomes low priority and something else comes up. It is very hard to plan work like this. He behaves more like a competitor than a manager and many discussions lack clarity. Almost every day he asks me to stay back after work for things that aren’t really urgent. The situation is getting very stressful. The team is very small so I have to work closely with him. I am trying to switch but until I get an opportunity I need to handle him carefully. I can’t be rude because he may create issues during notice period negotiation. Is this kind of situation common in servicebased companies, or am I just unlucky?

There is no need to work beyond your shift hours. Make it a habit to log in exactly at your shift start time and log out exactly at the end time.
If there are pending tasks, communicate them clearly, mention what is pending and how much additional time is required to complete them.
If you feel you are handling multiple responsibilities on your own, present your workload and productivity data and request additional resources when needed.

Thanks

Jerk RM are very common in HCL

Dude at least your RM knows what you work. My RM doesn't have a clue wrt my project. Also is unreachable via each and every possible medium. No clue whatsoever
new project manager will be same better to switch to product based company
