Need help choosing between two offers, would really appreciate honest inputs 🙏
I 26 F (5 YOE) single, working remotely till date, supposed to rent a place in Hyderabad for further, have offers from Infosys(Consultant) and HCL(Apllication Lead), both for GCP Data Engineer. Here’s the situation:
🔹 Infosys
- 17 L fixed + 3 L variable (20 LPA total)
- Higher basic pay (better PF, long-term hikes)
- Project not confirmed yet (likely healthcare)
- Location: Pocharam
- Possible flexibility, but not guaranteed
🔹 HCL
- 17 L fixed + 1 L variable (18 LPA total)
- Project known: Lloyds Banking
- 3 days mandatory WFO (Tue–Thu)
- Location: Nanakramguda
- Have known teammates in the team
I’m confused between: ● Better long-term compensation (Infosys) vs ● Project clarity + known team + better location (HCL)
Early in my career, so growth matters, but so does stability and learning.
Would love to hear from people who’ve worked in either company or faced a similar decision. What would you choose and why?
If you’re completely wanted that extra 2 lakhs go ahead with infy but not guaranteed. It depends on ratings…only outstanding ratings will get 100% or sometimes 106% or 65%… There’s a Lil risk involved in getting that extra lakhs. You got to compromise on the known team/location/travel expenses etc. i don’t think infy will be providing you complete WFH…as far i know it was 10 days WFH allowed when I was there…couple of months back…
They’re requesting everyone to be in the office even if you’re doing a night shift. I’m talking about JL5s doing a night shift. I’ve been there. Managers i.e. JL6 are expected to be in office for 4 days a week.
If you want to be in your own comfort zone choose HCL but yeah less 2laks but u will have peaceful days… my opinion is the Risk is not worth it. You need to start everything from scratch if you choose infy…

Go for Infosys, have been Ex - Infy , I will suggest for Infosys.
