Trending @Cognizant; Released Without a Word - Where’s the Professionalism?

Two of my colleagues tried logging in to the VDI (client network) on Monday, but their credentials weren’t working. Thinking it was a technical issue, they contacted the help desk and tried multiple fixes — nothing worked.

Eventually, they reached out to the manager — and only then were they told they’d been released from the project.

What’s shocking is:

They worked sincerely until Friday night.

There was no prior communication or intimation.

They only found out after escalating the issue themselves on Monday morning.

Even though we are part of a global organization, this kind of handling feels extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. People deserve at least basic transparency and courtesy, especially when changes directly affect their role and livelihood.

It’s moments like this that really make you reflect — Are we truly practicing the values we preach around empathy and professionalism?
