I have asked my manager to release me from my current project. From when can I stop working for the project, after just informing or need to wait for his approval. As I don't wanna continue anymore and want immediate release.
Send an official mail asking for release to him, add HR is cc. The manager will raise the release request, you will get the notification on mail. After that mail, you'll get 28 days. You can see your release date in the Talent market place. After 28 days, you'll be on the bench.

No. Discuss with him. Don't send mail before informing. You need to submit a PEA request before release. Project End Appraisal. He will give his overall feedback about your work in the team. Maintain a good relationship.
