I've joined a project in dec 2024 and I'm frustrated. All they do is documentation and preparing excel sheets. They focus on even words that are used in the document. I want to take release.i am a developer and not liking this at all.How can I take release from this project?

Tell your manager that you have some health issue and not willing to work in this project due it. Take frequent sick leaves, ask your manager for release frequently.

How much rating they will give in such cases

If you get a release now, then they cannot rate you. At the most they can give feedback to your new manager

Could you plz tell us the project name. It would be helpful for other devs who aren’t willing to work in such projects

Ask your manager to give release.. annoy them every week.. slow down your productivity.. they will release but they will give bad rating in this case..

You can discuss this with your HM and say that I am feeling like my skills and the designation I have been hired for are not being utilised hence don't want to work in this project. Because in case you have been made billable in the project, they will not release unless and until they find your replacement.
