Trending @Cognizant; Don't keep anything for the future. It arrived very early for me 💔
10 years ago, I was 17. I wasn't even of a legal age to drink. I went to college, was an amazing time.
Always felt young, being an adult was always for the future. I could enjoy, I could party, I could be a little silly.
Even the last 3 years at Cognizant, I know I have much more to do in my career, need to earn a lot more and pay off my loans. But it never felt urgent, it always felt that the future holds better.
In the last 6 months, got hit by 2 health news. First, realized by blood pressure is high. And then, 2 months ago, got diagnosed with diabetes (it's fucking random, I'm not overweight, and nobody in my family has it).
Now I can barely enjoy a night out. Alcohol is a no-no. Desserts is a no-no. Everything healthy. In 6 months, I went from being 27 to being 40 years of age (mentally).
I look at life more seriously now. I'm lucky it's only diabetes, it can always be worse. But this is me shedding my childhood. Maturity has set in.
My life isn't 4 years away in a better job. It's today, it's now, in what I am doing. And I have to change things today.
Happy friday, fellow people 🫡
