Trending @Cognizant; Does getting promoted from A to SA requires you to serve a specific tenure?

I joined CTS in Sept-2024. Gave interview for SA, got selected but later HR informed that due to less than 4 YOE, I'll be given A role.

While exploring the talent marketplace, try applying only to roles/accounts that are eligible for promotion

believe me i saw people getting SA with even 4 and 5 yoe, here everything depends on your supervisor

Min 2 yrs as A and then u become eligible for SA but promotion is purely based on luck and ur manager. Internal job move is other option if ur current account doesn’t have SA roles. In onecognizant -> talent marketplace u can search for SA position jobs in different account and move to that project. I am in cognizant for 3.8 yrs now and have not got promotion. So dont expect it to happen, just try and if it comes then ok or leave the company when u feel bored in politics.

Not sure about the total experience. But for A to SA, one should have 3 years of experience in a single account. Not a project but an account.

In my case, I have the eligibility but no openings in my current account.

Depends on availability of SA openings. Tenure matters. Overall experience I've seen get SA is minimum 5.5 years.
But this has been my personal experience and I'm in QEA. Don't know about the other person's comment about lesser experienced SAs.

Being in same account for 2 or 3 years is partly true but as long as you satisfy all other criteria like YEA ratings and RTO including overall experience, they can always make an exception with good justifications and push for it if they really want to give you the promotion (example - if promotion can be given by eligible SO based IJM promotion to someone joining a new account, why can't they give to someone already in the account).
It's just like semantics and rules can be bent with the right kind of force.
