I'm buffer resource in project and not even completely billable but I'm working in the project since jan. Now if I resign from cognizant do they release me from project and also what will be the notice period duration

That purely depends on the project . Ideally they keep you in the project until your last day for KT and all. But if you want release , as a buffer , maybe it would be easy for you
