When is the first promotion/hike gets. I joined as a A5 fresher. Is it 18 months and by default promoted to associate consultant?

Promotion isn't automatic. You need to prove your worth. Typically, it takes around 18 months, but performance and other factors play a big role.

You mean if I am billable throught 14-16 months then too it may be possible that the promotion is not given?
