Has anyone had to surrender their work laptop when relocating to a different office or city? What was the process like, and did you face any challenges?
In my case I haven't told to surrender the laptop.
Ha it will be updated in the portal but to complete the whole process you're supposed to surrender it. You can also try connecting with your location ESCM SPOC

Can u tell it is possible not to surrender my laptop as I am working in a project. It will be a heptic to setup everything from scratch.
You'll have to discuss that with the ESCM SPOC. I was also in a project when I had surrendered my laptop. In my case I had got my supervisor involved in this as surrendering the laptop would have affected my work. So the workaround for me was to take the new laptop from my new location, get it configured and bring it at project working condition and once I'm satisfied with it, surrender the old laptop. The was carrying both the laptops to office for around 2 weeks.
Yes, a year back. Not sure what's the procedure now but they'll mostly ask you to surrender it in order to complete your transfer. The process is simple, you just have to raise a surrender request in the service central and submit it in your base location. In my case I had surrendered it through remote pickup option (which is no longer available). My base location was Bangalore and I had raised a relocation request to Pune. So, one day my laptop started having display issues (I had not surrendered the system yet) and the Pune team was refusing to handle it as it was from Bangalore. That's the only issue I've faced.

But the problem is that I have not received any communication regarding the surrender of laptop and my location is updated in portal. I have got to know that I have not got the ECMS clearance.
