It depends upon individual perception. Most of the service based companies will mostly have support projects. So, most people will get into that. IMO if you are getting into a support project, try to learn the implementation of your skill and once you're confident enough switch to a product based. Remember one thing, gaining experience is better than sitting idle for the perfect opportunity. Hope this helps!!
