Hi Everyone,
I am currently seeking advice regarding a challenging situation I am facing in my project. I work in a support role and have consistently performed well over the past year. My efforts are well recognized by both management and the client. I have regularly worked extended hours on a daily basis, handled complex and critical tasks, taken on new responsibilities, and provided on-call support on Saturdays. Despite this, we have not received any compensation, comp-offs, or on-call allowances for the additional effort. When it came to the year-end review cycle, I was given a rating of 2. Upon discussing this with my manager and requesting clarity on why a higher rating was not considered, I was informed that ratings require “exceptional” contributions such as participation in innovation initiatives and automation. While I fully understand and respect this expectation, I would also like to highlight that I have worked tirelessly to manage workloads, frequently covered for absent team members, and independently handled tasks that other team members were unable to perform despite having access to the same KT sessions and Confluence documentation. Due to this workload and responsibility, I was unable to focus adequately on my personal skill development and training over the year. Additionally, there has been no transparency regarding potential promotion, and any salary hike is expected to be aligned with the current rating. At the same time, the organization has announced cost-cutting measures, with possible reductions in team size. This has further increased workload and pressure, contributing to a toxic work environment where the client raises frequent concerns and the same few individuals are expected to respond and resolve issues while others remain disengaged. Considering these factors—and the possibility that the project may be automated within the next couple of years.
I am seriously considering requesting a release from this project. My concern is whether moving to the bench in search of better opportunities would be a wise decision given the current circumstances.
I would appreciate guidance from anyone who has faced a similar situation and can share insights on whether seeking a project release is a prudent step at this stage of my career.

I would genuinely suggest looking for opportunities outside Capgemini and considering a move to a product-based organization, where you may find greater recognition for your efforts and clearer career growth. Such experiences are quite common in service-based companies.
