Trending @Accenture; Why people have issue in going to office once in a week?

There used to be full 5 days 9 hours office before Covid!

Maybe no one realizes but inflation increased exponentially in last 6 years, population also increased in a significant number on the other hand there's no such payout to 70-80% employees to withstand in a tier 1 city anymore. On top of that a major portion of employees don't have generational wealth, so they have to take care of every single action happens in their family. The only people who are agreeing to RTO are either the ones getting comfortable salary or the ones who cannot go against their managers because of fear of losing job. 90% people not agreeing to RTO is only because of unbalanced salary with the social needs and rest 10% maybe just want to worship their comfort zone.
Population also caused a massive impact on commute, idk about other city but Mumbai has exhausted it's resources to fulfill the people's need. Recent accident of 8 people dying in a local train went viral, but in fact the death rate in trains/buses is 7 people per day for last 2-3 years. Comparing time before covid and after covid is like comparing ghee and oil, situation shited to whole new level bro.

It’s not always about salary. I am underpaid and I have leg fractured but still going once a week and have not raised exception so far.
What if they go to office 5 days a week or resign. You would love to resign ?

This was not the case pre-covid. What changed post covid work wise.
If u try other companies, your Bonus and other perks are linked to the number of days u work from office.

Let me tell you why I personally don't want to go to the office.

  1. My team doesn't sit here in my base location. I am alone so there is no point of one to one team collaboration and this nonsense.

  2. My Salary is not that good that I can afford a place near my office. So, I am staying far away and it took me time to reach the office in this heat.

  3. I can do more work at home rather than going to office.

  4. Finally and most importantly, My parents are old and I love staying home and also doing my work honestly.

Note: I know people used to come to office pre Covid and it was mandatory and now people are aware of future remote work culture that gave them options to work from home without affecting their work.

Boot licker spotted:) No hikes, no promotion, expense of living at tier-1 city with low salary, less meaningful work, toxic team environment, More efficient work from WFH setup,no team mates in the office, high inflation -less savings, can save travel time, and many many more personal reasons

You’re also among us.
If companies will start full week work from office, you will definitely go because you need that “low salary”

In the last 8 months, 70,000 people were hired. For experienced they offered work from home. Obviously, for freshers, it would be once/twice a week.

It is all about the market statistics to stand big, and this all were tricks were played by the leadership, like a kids playing with toys.

It's because teams are scattered more after Covid, what's the purpose to go and remain in calls for 80 percent
What collaboration is happening, previously most of the team.members were at single.location and it was good office environment to work on Now even you go office and comeback and if needed you need to be in call at home also.

Working form office is fun but company is making just for formality it doesn't make sense

ZippyPretzel

What is the purpose of going to the office? 1.)All teams are scattered in other offices across the country and clients are overseas. 2.)We have to carry our own laptop to the work. It's a complete joke to the same work in same device at the office location and we have to carry work device to be that specific place. What nonsense!

Now, Why should we should not go to office even a day a week. 1.) Peanuts, yes you heard right. Salary increment in last 3 years are peanuts. Basically, Inflation is more than our increments means we are getting our salary cut in directly. Not to mention all the clients pay in dollars and indian currency has follen so much. Still negligible increment.
2.) Most of the people are out of this city. They have to either travel few hours just make presence in office every time. And the rest have to rent far away from office to save cost and travel a long distance to reach office. This makes it frustrating to spend 30k-40k to live far away just make a weekly presence. 3.)Have you been to office? Have you feel the presence of dead body in living human? It feels like everyone is in fear and whole environment is suffocating. 4.)Most of us have to live apart from our family for a weekly presence. 5.)Policies are too rigid. Even to get exception for 7-8days it has to be approved by manager, HR and may be one more person. I raised exception but it got rejected. I reached HR on teams but no response. No option to add document when you raise exception. So, you have to mail it seperatly. 6.)The only reason they call you to office is to keep increasing the demand of estate business.

5th point made me to resign from Accenture
It's too rigid
Many companies are asking people to come to office n number of days in month or quarter this gives flexibility a definition, not this what Accenture have right now

BouncyLlama
BouncyLlama

What a comparison 😂 Accenture hasn't even given me 3% hike in 3 years which pretty covid used to be 8-10% bi yearly.
Hope this explanation helps

Will you go 700 km away just to visit a place once every week to have lunch and breakfast.

CosmicMochi
CosmicMochi

There should be an option to go in consecutive days. So that people travel only once in a quarter.

WigglyCupcake
WigglyCupcake

My only problem is that they are not even allowing to take work from home for sometime so that I can visit my home which is veryyyyy far. :(

Question should be what is issue of company asking employees to come to office? Once a week is fine who live near office are but it is not flexible who live at hometown or far from base location. Instead of 1 day week, it should be few days in month or quarter.

Travelling cost a month has increased from 3000 rs month in 2018 to 10000rs a month due to increase in bus fare and Auto. With retail inflation 7-8% yearly and got a combined 9% increase in the past 7 cycles. The only reason to work for Accenture is WFH.
