Trending @Accenture; When a manager promises for a hike in coming cycle, should you believe or not?
Background: someone in my team was given an option if they want a hike or promotion. Then next day he was asked to switch team (that team is not good client wise escalations happen a lot) and they will give him TL role if he does the switch. Also, from last 2 years no hikes for him he joined in 2022. He wasn’t eligible the first year next year market hit.
Your manager don’t know if he is getting hike how can he promise you hike ?? Shocking!!
I am not sure but this is what I got to know I feel they are giving reasons to say at the end they gave an opportunity but he didn’t take it and hikes wont happen as company is flat in revenue
Well you have your answer!! If you have a good offer in hand I don’t think you should hold back
Please don't compare dad with manager, dad is far better than cheap manager...
Which is true dad’s do sacrifice which a manager would not they think about how they can do in benefit of company mostly
My dad promised me a new Motorcycle when I passed 12th. Unfortunately I never saw the number plate of the bike.My dad didnot had the big budget of my taste he offered me used bike between 20k but the promise was not kept.A year later I got in corporate saved enough and then my dad chiped in some amount as a gift on my birthday for the new bike I wanted to buy .I believe Managers in the corporate world are similar to your dad in real life. I believed. I was nominated by one manager for some award for my performance.Later another manager got it cancelled and told me, they are planning something big for me in coming cycle. That manager has left the company in the same year. I haven’t received any award, no appreciation, no hikes nothing yet in 2 years.
