Trending @Accenture; The Harsh Reality of Work Culture

Lately, I’ve been wondering—what’s really going on with our work culture in most of the companies?

Many of these companies have lacs of employees in India, and yet, year after year, hikes are minimal or nonexistent. The most common excuse? “The market isn’t doing well.” But if that’s true, why are employees overloaded with work like never before?

Earlier, working from the office meant around 7 hours of actual work with short breaks in between. Now, even 9–10 hours a day feels insufficient. And the worst part? This extra effort isn’t being rewarded—it’s being normalized.

Even during interviews, I’ve noticed a trend: “Are you okay to stretch when needed?” seems to have become the default expectation.

So what are we left with?

  • No fair hikes
  • No personal time or family balance
  • And always the looming fear of a PIP or sudden termination

It’s frustrating, and I know I’m not alone. If you’ve been feeling this too, you’re not overreacting—it’s real, and it’s valid.

Market situation is bad so even i wont work for you 24*7, the issues is indian employees have been taking this and been okay with this for long. Hence they feel they can act however they want to.
