Trending @Accenture; Suggestion for having a Good Notice period

I have a good offer ! I have been in a new project since 2 weeks! I want to have good notice period where there is little or no work ( will be utilising my time in getting better offer, skill up and family time) Should I first ask for a project release and then go on bench first and then resign ? or should I resign first and ask the project manager to roll off me from the project ?
