Trending @Accenture; Should I quit Accenture and join TCS

Hi Folks,

Today I got an offer from TCS. I was looking for a job change for the last 2 months. Currently I have 6 yrs of experience in IT and all those in Accenture.

A few days back my manager/people lead said that he has recommended me for promotion, I will be promoted to level 9.

If I am promoted my fixed salary will be the same as TCS has offered. In both cases I will have a new salary for the month of December.

Please suggest what I should do?

2 options

  1. Stay in Accenture for a little longer and then start searching maybe next year.
  2. Leave Accenture and grab another offer.

In short Don't join TCS.

PS - Same situation for me I'm resigning next week.

Please get a hike and switch swiftly, If you make a switch now, you will be financially at a loss. You spent 6 years in Accenture, waiting for another 3 months would be a viable option for you. Switch salary always depends on current fixed income, you are getting raised on your fixed income, for why to leave now? Without tasting the results of your past/current work.

Stay bro, TCS is like sarkari naukari, please join TCS after 18 or 20 years of exp amd then enjoy your life peacefully.

Right now what you can do is-

  1. Study more, prepare more and get more offers, but dont join TCS.
  2. Stay here, take a chance, if you got promoted then its a win win situation for you, and if not, then again resume your job hunting.
  3. Dont join TCS now bro, this is not a good option.

I asked my manager about it but he said it is the leadership call for getting me promoted or not. He also mentioned that he has done his part by marking me for promotion.

Should I mention to him that I have an offer with a 30% hike.

You can mention and ask for the promotion. It's a manager choice based on the budget. Going to TCS for a 30% hike, isn't even worth it. Try after the December hike, that's a win win situation. Don't go there and waste another one or two years. A salary hike in TCS is not as good as you get in Accenture. Thats all I can say

Accenture is better than TCS. You could do one thing. Try to negotiate with TCS regarding new offer but I would highly recommend you to not trust verbal communication. If your SM is confirmed about promotion then only trust on it. Also have an e-mail proof.

If I read you Correctly, management has recommended for your promotion. Meaning, you will receive promotion in the next cycle (may be in the month of June/July 2025- that too if you keep meeting expectations the same way you are doing now). If your reward portal says, congratulations for your promotion, then only it's applicable from December 2024.
