Trending @Accenture; Role change| Roll Off | career guidance

I have been working as a test engineer at Accenture for 3.6 years but am keen to transition into a data analyst or risk management role. My manager offered to roll me off my current project, and I was asked to find relevant roles on my own while on bench. To pursue a data analyst role, I need to shift my primary skill from testing to a competency related to data analysis. However, changing my primary skill requires supervisor approval, which is challenging without hands-on experience. I’m frustrated and confused about how to proceed since I don’t want to continue in testing. What steps should I take?

Hey a piece of advice - add the relevant skill as secondary skill and then get a P3 proficiency in that skill. Now change it to primary. Seeing P3 I don’t think your manager will ask much

I can suggest 2 options. Through LinkedIn or other means find Managers who are already managing data analytics within your function. Then reach out to them and request for opportunities to shadow and support in their existing work/projects. You can approach more than 1 manager and express your genuine interest. This will give you an opportunity to gain hands on exposure and also may even open up doors to future roles in the team where you are learning.

2nd option is to spend money on some relevant course, showcase it on LinkedIn or something and ask for change within Accenture or search for opportunities outside.

Personally I would recommend the 1st option.

First one I am already trying. Some responded and took cv. But no response yet lets see my luck.

Better approach is to change role within the project or account and then gain expertise. So seek technical some skill within the project. The chance of getting new project with new skill while on bench is difficult. You may stand a chance if the new skill is devops.

My project has only.net development and testing roles. I'm not interested in both. Devops also I am okay to go! But don't know how to approach

In bench also the project calls i m getting is of that tech which is listed as primary skill in my competency n changing the primary skill in my competency has so many terms n conditions

I think you can start with dot net, that experience will help you whatever technology you want get into later on.
