Trending @Accenture; [Resignation] Work Anxiety at Peak
Hi Everyone,
i joined Accenture in July 2023, got in a project in Team A, here the work went over my head so asked for roll off but they said they will shift me to different team, one year went by, i got shifted to Team B, here the work is technical (dotnet, API), can say it is kind of development role, but now i am having work Anxiety, like i think I don't like coding, i can understand it, make changes but when asked to build an API from scratch, i get panic attack.
From last 2 days i am not able to sleep properly, i just want to resign but don't know what to do.
I am confused what should i do
- look for non technical role ( any suggestions )
- quit and prepare for some government exam ( fear from recent exam scams and selection ratio )
i don't have any hobby or passion.

Don't be scared...why do you think what is I fail ...think what if I pass and I get better. Take each day slowly no api is built in a day. Check with seniors, admit you are ready to learn. Doing something for the first time is always always difficult...but just do it once. at max, you would have atleast learned something which you didn't know earlier. You are scared only because you don't know how to do it now...and non technical roles are not long lived, they pay less over the time and career graph is better if you stay handson. If you want to go to a government job, then that is something which is a career shift which is again a good thinking and if done strategcily can give good results , but good government jobs are very competitive right now

thank you
in long term, i don't think i see myself in building tech, in a sense i am scared of it, don't know why maybe because i don't know it and i think i am also not willing to learn it. you know when i think about it what i am doing right now is passing the time, just getting the days, weeks and months over, still at level 12, no idea about promotion.
with this rto thing, currently traveling from hometown which is in itself a task.

It's fine if you want to switch...many people do..just do enough R&D, study and target the line you want to go into. Many Many people in IT do so and in other carrers also, so it should be fine.

One thing I observed in Accenture people who come from technical backgrounds is that they always get non technical roles. And who is not interested in a technical role. That person gets a technical role. Strange 😐

Just don’t be scared buddy, use gpt or claude, buy subscriptions if needed. Take double the time for first two projects. You will get confidence. Everyone has anxiety because of self doubt. But one must be brave enough to face and conquer it. Men are brave.

What's the use of subscription with gpt/claude?

Bro I totally understand what you're going through. Feeling anxious and lost when you’re not comfortable with the work is totally normal, especially in a technical role. But listen, you don’t have to be scared. It’s okay if you don’t know everything right now. Take it step by step.
Building an API from scratch can seem like a big mountain to climb, but break it down. Focus on learning one small thing at a time. Like, first, understand how the structure works, then focus on the endpoints, then error handling etc. Don't try to learn everything in one go, it'll just make you more anxious.
And trust me, tools like chatgpt can be a game changer. I was in the same boat, didn’t know much about React, just some basics, but I ended up building an entire app for a local business -side project. In the process, I learned so much that I wouldn’t have even thought about before. You can literally ask chatgpt to help you with coding, debugging, or even breaking down tasks. It's like a perfect mentor.
I know it’s tough, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself to know everything immediately. Use the tools around you, take it slow, and learn at your own pace. You’ll be surprised at how much you can do once you stop stressing over it.
Also, take care of yourself. Don’t let the work get to your mental health. If it gets too much take a short break or talk to someone. You’re doing fine, just take it easy!

that's the thing LLMs can help me in the short term but slowly what i am observing is I don't like building tech, so for now i feel like i should try for govt exam but for that i need to gove time cause of high competition
so current anxious in leaving the job and then preparing, plus this 3 months notice period, there is always this thought what if i felt the anxiety regarding govt exam then ...

I am in the same boat buddy. Everyday was like hell for me...so i resigned to take some break and to avoid a work pressure. Same wanted to switch to non it role may be.. let's see

Don't be tensed. Just ask for help and connect with other folks to see if they can help. Worrying about the situation will not take you anywhere, try to learn and see if that builds your confidence. It's perfectly ok also, evryone doesn't know everything, they learn

Try moving to PMO role while analysing what to do next.. its better atleast with no job which is very stressful.. you can utilise percipio portal tons of ebooks available for non tech area as well

Use chatgpt

People fear what they do not know, yet when knowledge turns into practice, fear dissolves into confidence, and confidence carries them forward.
