Trending @Accenture; Promotion Uncertainty After 3 Years: Should I Consider a Roll-Off?
I was promoted from Level 12 to Level 11 three years ago. My team lead had informed me earlier in June that there was a strong chance of a promotion in December, but now the communication has changed to uncertainty, stating that the decision depends on leadership rather than the manager. Given this situation, would it be advisable to consider a roll-off or a different opportunity if the promotion does not happen in this cycle?

Ask for a roll off. Tell them if you don’t have any certainty, why would I work under you?

I am awaiting the outcome of the upcoming promotion cycle. Based on that result, I will need to evaluate my next steps, including the possibility of a roll-off if there is no clarity on my career progression.

People who needs to be promoted this year already promoted as Exception in September cycle and no promotion will happen in December cycle. Ask for roll off. I heard whoever is asking for rolloff are getting it easily this time as this is a direct message from leadership.

I was the top performer of the month, in last November when i did really good , they kicked me out of the project. One lady assoc manager got promoted to manager. Then didn’t even inform me earlier and all. My team lead who was close to me, he didn’t discuss with me before that something like that was happening . I received literally good client appreciation mai, appreciation mail from my manager,team-lead all those SHI*T reward points. after this event i lost my zeal to work , and went into a comfort-zone. for current project i am unable to perform well. They think i am moderate . But the fact is i don’t want put much efforts for this company. Currently i am planning to switch after 1.5yrs of roll off. I realised this is how corporate work. Now i ll switch with 1-1.5yrs ,where ever i go.

I can relate, as I am experiencing a very similar situation.

Roll off will not solve your problem.

Why do think it maybe the case? Do you have performance issues? What is your project feedback from onshore?

I have received positive client feedback along with appreciations for my contributions, both from the client and internally from my leadership team.

Is it correct that promotion decisions are generally made at the CL5 level or higher, rather than by managers or senior managers? My team lead has confirmed this.

My advice is don’t take the roll-off just to end up in another project with the same pay, maybe even under people who are still waiting for their promotions too. You’ll lose the leverage you have in your current role.
If you’re confident about your performance take the hard step. Resign while pushing for the promotion. If they need you they will retain you with promotion. You’ll still have your 3 month notice to explore better opportunities.
I was in the same situation at Accenture. I kept waiting every cycle hoping for a promotion, and it ended up costing me 3 years since my last one. I decided to move on and now I finally have what I deserve, a senior role and a salary that matches the market.

Bro consider for a switch. Roll of won't do anything to your career at this point of time.

As long as you are in a billable project, you will stay locked for that project and roll off will not take place. Switch is the only option I see for you
