Trending @Accenture; Need career guidance

Hi everyone, I need some advice regarding my career move.

I joined Accenture in November 2024 as an Associate Software Engineer, but till now I haven’t really got the chance to do any coding. Even though I was put into a development project around 3 months back, I haven’t been assigned any actual coding work yet. This is making me worried about my growth and learning.

Recently, I got an offer from Odoo India for a Full Stack Developer role with a package of 6 LPA (₹40k+ in-hand). Since Odoo is a product-based company, I’ll be getting proper development exposure, which I feel will help me in the long run.

Now I’m stuck between two choices:

Stay at Accenture for the stability and brand name, but continue with almost no coding work.

Or join Odoo, where I’ll get real coding experience, better pay, and faster learning, but it’s a smaller company compared to Accenture.

What do you all suggest I should do? Any guidance would mean a lot 🙏

Join odoo pay is also good and you are getting development work.career wise it will give you a boost

But one thing is that they are using their own framework and not any popular one and outside the odoo no one uses that.

Accent..is anyways laying off so better to join next company .and you already have offer in hand so don't miss the chance .

I would suggest to consider moveling to Odoo. At the early stage of your career, the main focus should be on learning as much as possible. The only exception would be if you discuss with your lead at Accenture and are offered work that provides significant learning opportunities.

But in odoo they are using their own framework that no one uses outside odoo.

Unfortunately I am not fully aware of which framework Odoo uses, but generally, once you know the fundamentals, most frameworks can be translated across each other.

If someone can confirm this, it would make it safer to work on their platform, learn the intricacies, and then apply that knowledge elsewhere.

After all, the best way to learn any work is by doing the work.

I assume you are at the initial phase of your career and you need to be in org where you will get proper exposure which gives a strong foundation in future...if you are a support profile down the line after a few years you will be stuck/stagnant with no growth or good experience...hope this gives clear picture what you have to decide may be one side of story...

No I got a development role in the project but it's been 3 months since they didn't give any access like for vs code and all. Should I resign from Accenture.

3months is a short period to assume...whether will get development role or not... ideally check with senior what they are doing and then you may get clarity

I'd advise you to switch to Odoo because Accenture is a very big organisation and you won't get a lot of pressure or actual learning in initial phase of your career. In the smaller companies, you get more work and you learn more.

Growth wise, Odoo would be a smart choice. Pay wise also Odoo seems better because Accenture is not giving hikes and promotions as expected. Below par hikes they are giving

Join odoo , staying in accenture won't help you in any way . What if you had done coding, but still you are from service based company with 90 days notice period.

Career initial phase should be in startups later(after 5-6 years) in process driven orgs which makes you strong in every area.
