Trending @Accenture; Need advice and suggestion
Background: I joined Accenture as an Associate Software Engineer (ASE) in July 2023 as a fresher. I completed my training in SAP ABAP and have been working on an SAP support project for the past 1 year and 3 months. Over time, I have become increasingly frustrated with handling tickets and performing SAP backend tasks. For the last six months, I have been requesting a project change from my Team Lead (TL). However, my TL has mentioned that, as an ASE, I cannot be released from the project immediately. Instead, he assured me that he would help me transition into an internal project outside of the SAP domain. Additionally, he mentioned that in early 2025, new project requests from clients would arise, and he would suggest me for those opportunities.
Current State: Despite these assurances, I am at a point where I am seriously considering a switch. I want to evaluate my options, including the possibility of continuing with Accenture or exploring a change.
Questions:
Promotion Timing: I will complete two years as an associate in July 2025. Based on the company's usual cycle, will I be eligible for a default promotion in the June cycle of 2025, or is it typically in December?
Impact of Urging for a Change: If I continue to urge my TL or the PMO (Project Management Office) for a project change, could this negatively affect my chances of promotion?
Should I Start Preparing for a Switch? Given my dissatisfaction with the current work and lack of significant progress toward a new project, should I start preparing for interviews and consider switching companies instead?
Any suggestions on how to approach this decision would be appreciated.
