Work has never been the issue — I genuinely enjoy what I do and my current project is going well. But sometimes, it’s not the work, it’s the system that makes things frustrating.
Too many rigid rules and policies — like being forced to work only from your base location, even when you’re working from home — just add unnecessary stress. Life happens, plans change, and flexibility should be part of any modern work culture.
If someone is delivering and performing well, why does the location matter so much? Especially when people are still following the mandatory in-office days. A little trust and understanding can go a long way in boosting morale and retaining good talent.
Not trying to rant — just sharing what a lot of us silently deal with.

You have to see in another perception
Most of the IT companies operate in SEZ which means special economic zone. Government give subsidized rates for employment. So when you travel to office you are likely to spend a little amount of money from cab or train or having a tea or consuming food. During work from home these pins will not happn. Hence negative impact for economy be whatever small it may be it is still negative that's why complete to work from home is not good for the nation

Maybe instead of once a week, the org could allow 5 in-office days per month — employees can plan those together and work from home the rest. It still ensures collaboration without disrupting personal routines every week. And still it doesnt make sense to wfh from only base location if they are coming to office as per they sau they can wfh from wherever they can

The project I am leading has lot of dependency on me, team mates are younger lot, earlier i was reluctant to leave as I enjoyed leading things from front but now travelling 300km every week is too much, I am quitting at first opportunity

Retaining good talent is not in corporate dictionary anymore...and why do they even bother in boosting morale...this is nothing for them unless and until an employee keeps delivering the work as per them
