Trending @Accenture; I need genuine advice.
I am working in a ABAP project from past few months I am a fresher only, suddenly they are giving so much work, manager know that they have given a project and the build is going on, i understand you need to take multiple things, but I am very new to it, to do things it takes me time, and sudden random work, which claims to be suddenly very important comes. I was about to logout only then they gave something to work on saying it is very important need to do things aaap, i didn't seen the message after, and logged out, I want to know how will it affect me? And what should I do in such conditions? Pls give genuine advice, i actually don't understand what should I do, take work anytime, or what I did was fine, will check tomm?
Abaper here (3.5 YOE). I suffered situations like yours multiple times. I am gonna give very honest and realistic advice, apart from being proactive and doing your best and all other usual stuff you need to work your ass off to master abap outside your shift hours. This may sound ridiculous but this is very necessary to keep up the pace. At least for 6-12 months, watch as many videos as possible, read as many books as possible. All these things will open up your thoughts and your speed of understanding abap will increase too that will lead to increase in speed of work. When functional guys say it's urgent, don't take them serious. Prioritize work based on their priorities (P1, P2, P3). Never be shy to say "I don't have bandwidth to take up xyz until tomorrow" Or "please don't mind that the task you've assigned will go to pipeline". Clients or functionals don't understand the complexity of abap, so you have translate that complexity to english to make them understand.

That's very insightful. But also I don't want to pursue a career a ABAP, I want to leave it asap, so after office hours, or whenever free i try to study web d/ dsa so i can switch, bcz of that it feels I am wasting my time studying ABAP if I don't intend to make a career in it, I am just bearing it for now.

Regularly you cannot deny work, sometimes the logout may be delayed due to urgent work. If it is happening daily, politely ask them that you'll do it the next day.

Got it.. and what about heyy this is very urgent work, need to do asap? What do to in those situations?

hey been on same situation got trained in abap been forced to work there with 0 intrest luckily after 2.4 yrs got to know about my rolloff from the project, i took the opportunity for skill change and change my primary skill to java full stack after leads approval got the rolloff been on bench for almost 2 months recently got project with tech stack as java Springboot boot...i am happy that i left abap ..i can understand your situation working in abap feels waste

True man! How did you changed your primary skill? I mean were you already good in java? I mean how did someone who worked 2.4 years into ABAP suddenly changed the stream and they agreed too. Curious to know.

Being a Fresher, don't shy away from putting efforts, doesn't matter whether work gets completed or not. They are also aware what your capabilities are... don't get overwhelmed, they're testing you, this is the time for you to show them that u r here to stay...gonna be fine in sometime

But when things don't happen, they ask why? Why it didn't happen ? Now how can I reply them, bcz i don't know how to do it, and I am trying, seniors are always busy or very little helping.
