If you are locked into a project speak with your supervisor and update your primary skill on mycompetency to something technical like python. This way whenever you get released, you will get projects related to coding. Getting release from the project is not easy you will need to speak with your supervisor and check if it can be done, then you can move to your desired project, just make sure that your primary skill is updated and achieve atleast 3 star proficiency in it.
