Dicuss and define what success means for your manager and then tell them what you have done in the past 2.5 years for that north star. List down the work that you have done. Mere saying that you have worked for 2.5 years in night shift does not mean anything.

Your manager is more interested in how he can consolidate all his reportees work and ask for his promotion, you are his support, your success his his success. So work with your manager to define what success looks like and then work towards how to get to that success n
