Expert assessment would be in-centre(offline). It might be hands-on Or case study depends on your technology.

It might increase your chances of getting promoted or recognition but it doesn't guarantee.

You will get recognized if you clear that exam and achieve p4. Also chances of promotions may increase as compared to your team members.
