Trending @Accenture; How to switch from sap mm to data engineer after 1.5 yrs in sap mm
Hey folks, I’ve been working in SAP MM for about 1.5 years now, but over time I’ve realized that I’m more drawn to the data side of things — building pipelines, working with databases, and just understanding how data flows and powers decisions.
I’ve started learning Python, SQL, and playing around with tools like Spark and Airflow. Still early in the journey, but I’m serious about making the switch to a data engineering role.
If anyone here has made a similar transition or works in the data space, I’d love to hear your story or get any tips you might have — be it learning paths, side projects to build, or how to make my SAP background relevant. And if it’s even possible to make this transition happen as I heard from many that fresher can not be chosen for the data engineering role.
Would also really appreciate a quick chat if anyone’s open to it!
Thanks in advance!
