Hi I am a fresher just started my journey with tech sector.Experienced peeps just a question is being in IT sector in the long run worth it?My parents keep insisting me to prepare for gov job shall I go for gov job or continue being in IT sector?
Short answer NO. Long answer: depends on your goals and aspirations and most importantly your Options.
If you have 3-4 options ( IT, govt sector, own business, work abroad) evaluate carefully and internally what kind of life you want and what situation you are in.
Insights I can give you about IT: it's an ever changing market. Tomorrow a new technology, a new tool comes , your job might not be required. Hence constantly up-skillings is required. Now as thrilling and challenging as this may sound after a age you will feel tired to go through this constant process of learning and unlearning.
In IT, Continuous learning is the key. Keep yourself updated with the new skills in your domain and time your switching with company switch at the right time will definitely take you good places.
