Trending @Accenture; Hcl offer rejected after Selection

I got selected in hcl after that hr discussion regarding pay was happened. By having counter offer I asked for some certain pay. Hr told that he will send for an approval. After one week a mail came from hr that we have interviewed multiple canditates and they decided to go with other candidates. What might be the reason for this??? Can anybody suggest what to do I'm ready to negotiate with pay also.
