Trending @Accenture; Got promoted from L10 to L9.

Got promoted after waiting for 1.5 years… and honestly, it feels more disappointing than rewarding. The hike I got was just 13%, which is way below the usual 25–35% promotion bracket.

What frustrated me more was being told that since I got a 10% hike in December, they decided to give only 13% now — as if the two aren’t completely different contexts.

I’ve consistently taken on more responsibility, gone above expectations, and stayed patient — hoping this promotion would finally bring meaningful recognition. Instead, it feels like a checkbox was ticked without the reward that should’ve come with it.

Trying to stay motivated, but it’s tough when the effort doesn’t seem to match the outcome.

Just to give you a context you have received 10% in dec and 13% now, people have received way less, for L8 and above 0% hike since Nov'22

Appreciate the context, and I do understand that some people have received less or even no hike at all. But I don’t think it’s fair to use that to justify lowering expectations for everyone else.

Just because others are facing a tougher situation doesn’t mean I should be expected to feel satisfied with something that clearly doesn’t match the role or the usual promotion standards. That wasn’t the case before — promotions were supposed to come with meaningful growth, both in role and compensation.

Let’s not normalize the idea of setting the bar low and then asking people to feel grateful for barely crossing it. Expectations were set by the system itself, and it’s fair to hold it accountable.

I totally understand your frustration, getting 11% hike without promotion and only 13% with promotion is not justified. Also since you are promoted more added work would be shoved onto you as well. But just wanted to share the silver lining with you to make you feel a little better .

While I can relate to what you're feeling as promotion hike is less compared to base pay hike in some cases and your workload has increased (similar case for me); do see from the companies POV. They have to give raises and promotions with a set budget and have to manage market expectations and balance books. Every IT company is going through a lean period and it's not just Accenture. If you hadn't received the promotion, I'm pretty sure your hike would be minimal or none at all
